Morning
Morning worship commences at 10.00am
each Sunday. Whole families sit together for the first 20-30 minutes,
during which time there is a message for the children. After the choir
has sung, the children depart for Sunday School. The focus of each
service is upon giving glory to God, coming before Him with reverence
and awe by means of the shed blood of Jesus, listening to all that He
has to say to us through His Word, the Bible, and worshipping Him in
Spirit and in truth. While in form, the style of worship may be
described as conservative, our concern at all times is to be
Christ-centred, Spirit-filled, and God honouring. There is growing
participation in leadership of different elements of the service. The
Lord's Supper is celebrated quarterly, usually on the first Sunday of
March, June, September, and December. Each Sunday, there is significant
opportunity for Christian fellowship after the service over morning
tea, and later for hospitality in people's homes. Congregational
lunches are regularly hosted in the church hall, usually following each
Lord's Supper.
Evening
Evening Worship commences at
7.00pm every third Sunday of the month. There is a mixture of both
hymns and spiritual songs used, and also a variety of instruments to
accompany the worship. The focus of the preaching is upon Christian
testimony, with guests from within and outside of the church invited to
speak and share their personal testimonies. Supper is served
afterwards, giving opportunity for fellowship and interaction with the
guest speaker and with each other.
Nursing Mothers
To assist nursing mothers to
participate in our worship services, a room is dedicated to their use.
The room is located on the southern side of the church building,
directly below the spire, and can be accessed from either the south
porch or the worship area. The room is fitted with glass doors, and a
speaker transmits the service.
Creche
A creche is provided during
regular morning services for the benefit of families with infant
children up to 3 years of age. Due to the current size of the creche,
two groups meet in separate locations. The Junior Creche meets in the
Old Manse, located directly behind the church. The Junior Creche is for
mothers/fathers with children not yet walking. This facility is not
staffed with carers. Again, the service is broadcast. A bathroom and
changing room is also available.
The second creche, which is for children who are walking up to 3 years
of age, meets in the Old Tennis Pavilion, at the western end of the
property. A rostered team of carers is on hand to look after children
while church is taking place. Four staff members are rostered on any
given Sunday. The creche is fully equipped with play equipment. You are
free to leave your children at Creche for part or all of the service.
Sermons on CD
For those who regularly attend
Worship, copies of the sermons are available on CD. Orders may be
placed with the person on door duty.
Disabled Assistance
For those with hearing loss, there
are two forms of assistance available. For those who wear a hearing
aid, a loop system is fitted to the building. To benefit from this
system, you must sit within the two middle banks of seats towards the
front of the church, and be sure to switch your aid to the "T"
position. For those who require further assistance, the church is
fitted with a Phonic Ear device. If you require such assistance, please
request from those on door duty a Phonic Ear receiver. This is a small
hand held unit which comes with either a set of headphones or a loop
necklace, which has its own volume control, and is sure to deliver a
clear signal. Just remember to return the unit to the duty officer when
you leave as each unit needs to be recharged prior to use. Disabled
access to the church building is via the north porch entrance. There
are no steps to negotiate by using this entry point. Likewise the Hall
is accessible via a ramp of gentle gradient. Most areas of the Hall may
be accessed on the one level. Disabled toilets are not yet installed.
Parking for people with disabilities is reserved directly outside the
front of the church building in Waterloo St.
Sunday School/Bible Class
Sunday School for children aged 3
- 12 meets during the latter part of the morning church service. Each
class has at least two teachers, all of whom are dedicated to passing
on the faith of Jesus to children in an interesting and exciting way.
The curriculum in use has been produced by our own people. Parents are
welcome to take their children to Sunday School, and are requested to
collect them as soon as Church is over. Teachers maintain supervision
of children until their parents come to collect them. Bible Class is
offered for those in High School from 9.00-10.00am, prior to the church
service. Classes are formed into a variety of single sex and mixed
groups and are led by mature Christians who are gifted teachers.
